Precaution and vigilance are the key to preventing lumpy skin disease
CM directs to launch awareness campaigns to educate livestock owners

Jaipur, September 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the State Government is fully alert and vigilant about Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and that the situation is completely under control as a result of the preparations undertaken by the government in a time-bound manner. He said that precaution and vigilance are the most effective means of preventing Lumpy Skin Disease among livestock. Therefore, comprehensive public awareness campaigns should be conducted in affected areas to provide information about the symptoms of the disease, preventive measures and treatment, so that livestock owners do not panic and take necessary precautions in time.
The Chief Minister was chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday to review the situation of Lumpy Skin Disease and the measures being undertaken for its effective control. During the meeting, he said that the State Government had undertaken effective and coordinated efforts for the protection and development of cattle. He said that cases of Lumpy Skin Disease had been reported only in some districts of the eastern region of the State and not across the entire State.
He directed that, along with further intensifying the vaccination campaign across the State, adequate availability of preventive medicines be ensured in the affected areas. He also directed that infected animals be isolated at gaushalas and other locations and that all necessary arrangements be ensured. He instructed the relevant officials to maintain continuous surveillance in the field. He said that livestock owners must be encouraged to adopt necessary precautions and that the department must undertake continuous monitoring at its level to prevent the spread of the disease.
Officials of the Animal Husbandry Department informed the meeting that 10,403 livestock had been found infected with Lumpy Skin Disease in the State. Of these, 6,905 animals have recovered, and the recovery rate is showing an increasing trend. In addition, more than 87 per cent vaccination has been completed across the State. The Animal Husbandry Department has undertaken several measures to prevent the disease, including a vaccination campaign, establishment of control rooms at the State and district levels, constitution of Rapid Response Teams at the district and block levels, and distribution of cypermethrin and sodium hypochlorite to livestock owners.
Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Joraram Kumawat joined the meeting via VC. Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary, Finance, Shri Vaibhav Galriya, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Gopalan Development, Shri Sitaramji Bhale, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
