Patna, September 2026: Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary today transferred, through DBT, a total of Rs 1,233.87 crore at the rate of Rs 1,100 per person into the bank accounts of 105.68 lakh beneficiaries for August 2026 under the Social Security Pension Scheme. This time, 98,896 new beneficiaries have been added to the scheme.
During the programme organised at Ganga More in Kharagpur, Munger, the Chief Minister virtually unveiled the foundation stone for the widening and strengthening of the road from kilometre 28.340 (Ganga) to kilometre 38.340 (Kowarwa More) of National Highway No. 333.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the state government is committed to providing social security to all eligible people from every section of society without any discrimination. Under the Social Security Pension Scheme, beneficiaries are being provided a pension of Rs 1,100 per month.
As pension for August 2026, an amount of Rs 1,233.87 crore has been transferred through DBT to the bank accounts of 105.68 lakh beneficiaries. The government’s priority is to ensure that pension amounts reach beneficiaries’ accounts within the stipulated time, and the 10th of every month has been fixed for pension payment. This time, 98,896 new beneficiaries have been brought under the Social Security Pension Scheme. He said no eligible person should face discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or any other factor. The government’s effort is to ensure that the benefits of schemes are not limited to paperwork but reach the bank accounts of beneficiaries directly.
The Chief Minister said better management of water resources is necessary in the interest of Bihar. Important initiatives have been taken towards resolving the water dispute pending between Bihar and Jharkhand for the last 25 years through the efforts of the state government and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah. He said work needs to be undertaken for better management of Ganga water from Buxar to Bhagalpur. Efforts will be made to include the necessary provision in the Farakka Water Agreement so that Bihar can receive its share of water whenever required. He also stressed the need to resolve the problem of silt deposited in the Ganga up to the Farakka Barrage.
The Chief Minister said the foundation stone had been laid by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Bihar Government, for the project to widen and strengthen the road from kilometre 28.340 (Ganga) to kilometre 38.340 (Kowarwa More) on National Highway No. 333. The objective of the project is to make the route better, safer and more convenient. Better road connectivity will facilitate travel in Munger, Jamui and surrounding areas and accelerate development.
The Chief Minister said providing better education and adequate opportunities for the progress of children in Bihar is a priority of the government. Arrangements are being made at Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model School for preparation for competitive examinations along with modern facilities. Through the ‘Bihar Vidyarthi Sathi App’, efforts are being made to provide students with educational assistance 24 hours a day. The government is continuously working to ensure that children of Bihar progress in education, employment and entrepreneurship and prosper.
He said, “We will not step back from the work that you have given us.” The government’s objective is not merely to formulate schemes, but to ensure that their benefits reach the last person in society. Only when every person is empowered will society become strong, and only then will Bihar become strong. The real identity of development will emerge only when the benefits of development reach the last person in society.
The Chief Minister said 13 districts of Bihar are affected by floods, with a population of more than 30 lakh people affected. Flood relief work is being carried out by the government. He said efforts are being made to manage the water of the Ganga from Buxar to Bhagalpur. The river becomes considerably wider from Buxar to Bhagalpur, and this needs to be addressed to provide relief from floods.
Under the agreement with Bangladesh, Bihar can receive water from the Ganga only during four months — July, August, September and October. The Chief Minister said Bihar’s interests should be kept in mind in the water treaty with Bangladesh so that the state can utilise Ganga water throughout the year. Efforts will be made to include a provision in the Farakka Water Agreement allowing Bihar to receive water whenever required.
The Chief Minister said a health check-up campaign for people across Bihar will be conducted from September 1 to November 30. Around 6.5 crore people are expected to undergo health check-ups under the campaign. Treatment will also be arranged after health check-ups.
From September 17, the ‘Seva Sankalp, Kayakalp’ campaign will begin. Under the campaign, school infrastructure will be improved. Toilets will be provided in schools and Anganwadi centres where such facilities are currently unavailable.
Courts will begin functioning in Tarapur and Haveli Kharagpur this month. He said the Munger-Jamui forest area would be developed under a project costing around Rs 150 crore. Bhim Bandh has historical and natural importance. Work will be undertaken for the development and beautification of forests in the Bhim Bandh area. Along with developing international-level infrastructure, facilities such as trekking and hotels will also be developed in the forest so that tourists from India and abroad can visit the area.
The Chief Minister also distributed symbolic cheques to beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Kanya Utthan Yojana, livelihood support to women associated with self-help groups, beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Antarjatiya Vivah Protsahan Anudan Yojana, and keys to battery-operated tricycles to beneficiaries with disabilities under the Chief Minister Samarthya Yojana Sambal.
Sugarcane Industries Minister and Munger district in-charge minister Shri Sanjay Kumar, Social Welfare Minister Dr Shweta Gupta, Road Construction Minister Shri Kumar Shailendra and MP Shri Arun Bharti also addressed the programme.
On the occasion, MLA Shri Kumar Pranay, MLA Shri Manish Kumar, other public representatives, Chief Secretary Shri Pratyaya Amrit, Director General of Police Shri Vinay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department Shri Anand Kishore, Secretary of the Road Construction Department Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Social Welfare Department Shri Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Chief Minister’s Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Munger Divisional Commissioner Shri Prem Singh Meena, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Munger Range, Shri Rakesh Kumar, District Magistrate Shri Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Arvinder Singh, senior officials, dignitaries and a large number of people were present.
