New Delhi, September 2026 : A new book portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the lens of compassion, affection and sensitivity will be released in the national capital on September 17, coinciding with his birthday.
Titled ‘Modi Katha’, the book has been authored by noted journalist, columnist and writer Harish Chandra Burnwal and will be formally launched at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi. Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal will release the book.
The event will be presided over by IGNCA President Ram Bahadur Rai. IGNCA Member Secretary Sachchidanand Joshi, Aaj Tak Senior Anchor Saeed Ansari, and ABP News Senior Anchor Chitra Tripathi will attend the programme as distinguished guests.
Published by Prabhat Prakashan, Modi Katha is Burnwal’s fifth book on Prime Minister Modi. The book seeks to present a lesser-discussed, personal and humane dimension of the Prime Minister through real-life incidents and recollections gathered over nearly 25 years.
According to a statement issued in connection with the book, it contains 10 true stories that focus on Modi’s compassion, affection and sensitivity towards ordinary people. Rather than presenting a conventional political account, Burnwal has used personal memories and real-life experiences to build an emotionally engaging narrative.
The author has deliberately adopted simple language and a storytelling approach that seeks to connect with readers at an emotional level. The book’s premise is that while facts appeal to the mind, stories can reach directly to the heart. The incidents cover different emotional phases of Modi’s life and political journey.
One of the stories dates back to 1990, when Modi travelled by train and his warm and selfless behaviour towards two women passengers changed their previously negative perception of politicians. The incident, according to the book, left a lasting impression on the two passengers and offers an insight into his interpersonal approach long before he held constitutional office.
Another story revolves around Jeet Bahadur, a teenager from Nepal whom Modi encountered during his earlier political years. The book describes how Modi supported and nurtured him while treating him as an ordinary party worker. Even after becoming Prime Minister, Modi continued to remember him, the account states.
The book also features the poignant story of teacher Geetaben and visually impaired student Pinkal. Their interaction with Modi and his response to their concerns eventually contributed to special provisions being introduced in the Union Budget for visually impaired students, according to the book.
Another account describes the immediate assistance extended to save the life of Taiba from Agra, highlighting the Prime Minister’s response to an individual emergency. The book also recalls Modi’s interactions with ordinary citizens, including Chandrakant, a labourer from Hubballi in Karnataka, portraying how he shared in the joys and hardships of people from different walks of life.
The author says these stories collectively seek to underline a broader idea of governance. According to the statement, governance is not restricted to policies, official files and administrative decisions, but also involves understanding and responding to the emotions and difficulties of people at the margins of society.
To strengthen the credibility of the accounts and address possible doubts arising from preconceived opinions, Burnwal has included the sources at the end of every story.
Burnwal is currently associated with political analysis through his YouTube channel. His earlier books include Television Ki Bhasha, Sach Kehta Hoon, Modi Sutra, Modi Neeti, Lord of Records, Sangh Ki Ansuni Kahaniyan, Operation Sindoor: 100 Sarvashreshtha Kavitayen and Unsung Sangh. He has also created a vBook in collaboration with the IGNCA.
Apart from journalism and writing, Burnwal has produced more than 150 songs and devotional compositions in recent years. He has received the Bharatendu Harishchandra Award from the Union government and the Hindi Akademi Award, besides several other honours for his contributions to journalism and literature.
Through its collection of personal narratives, Modi Katha aims to offer readers a different perspective on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on human interactions and emotional experiences behind the public persona of one of India’s most prominent political leaders.
