Revanth Reddy Leads by Example, Participates in Digital Self-Enumeration for Census 2027
Hyderabad, April 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday took part in the self-enumeration process for Census 2027, completing his registration through the official online portal and setting an example for citizens across the state.
During the exercise, Census officials briefed the Chief Minister on the procedures and importance of self-enumeration, emphasising how the digital initiative aims to improve the accuracy, transparency and efficiency of data collection. The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the census in shaping public policy and urged residents to actively participate in the process.
Calling it a crucial civic responsibility, Reddy encouraged citizens to utilise the self-enumeration facility and contribute to building a reliable database for governance and development planning. He stressed that widespread public participation would play a key role in ensuring inclusive growth and better allocation of resources.
Senior officials present on the occasion included Director of Census Operations for Telangana Bharati Holikeri, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Joint Principal Census Officer Priyanka Ala, and Information and Public Relations Commissioner Chekka Priyanka, among others.
The self-enumeration phase in Telangana’s Core Urban Region (CURE) commenced on Sunday and will continue until May 10. This phase covers key urban areas including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, which are being treated as a single census unit.
Officials said residents can voluntarily submit their household details online via the official portal. The process includes answering 33 questions related to housing conditions, amenities and assets. The portal is accessible daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, and no supporting documents are required. The entire process is expected to take around 15 to 20 minutes.
Upon successful submission, households will receive a Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID), which must be shared with census enumerators during subsequent verification visits. To assist citizens, a toll-free helpline (1855) will operate between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
To boost participation, the GHMC has launched an awareness campaign titled “Self Enumeration Mahotsav – 15 Days” with the theme “Do it Yourself – No Waiting for Enumerator.”
Following the digital phase, the House Listing Operation will take place from May 11 to June 9, involving door-to-door surveys and wall marking.
Officials noted that Census 2027 will be India’s first fully digital census and the first for Telangana since its formation, also incorporating caste enumeration.
