Jharkhand CM Reviews Ranchi’s Urban Development, Stresses Eco-Friendly Growth and Smart City Progress
Ranchi, April 2026 : Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a high-level review meeting at the Jharkhand Ministry to assess key initiatives of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Road Construction Department, and Tourism Department. The meeting focused on the overall development of Ranchi, strengthening infrastructure, expanding civic amenities, and reviewing the progress of Smart City projects and tourism plans.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that environmental protection must be given the highest priority in all development activities. He emphasised that projects should be implemented in a manner that does not harm nature. Stressing sustainable development, he called for increased plantation drives and concrete steps to maintain ecological balance.
Soren highlighted the need to further improve the implementation of the Ranchi Smart City project, ensuring it is developed in a more effective and systematic manner. Discussions were also held on revenue generation through e-auction and other mechanisms. He instructed officials to ensure that all Smart City projects are practical, citizen-focused, and beneficial to the public.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of proper and planned utilisation of assets under departmental master plans. He directed officials to maximise the use of available resources to accelerate development work and improve efficiency.
Tourism development was another major focus of the review. Officials presented various projects through 3D animation and video presentations, giving a detailed overview of ongoing and proposed initiatives. The Chief Minister directed the department to focus on the holistic development of tourist destinations, enhance their appeal, and expand visitor facilities.
He emphasised that tourism infrastructure should be developed in a way that boosts economic growth while preserving the state’s natural and cultural heritage.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Prashant Kumar, Building Construction Secretary Arava Rajkamal, Road Construction Secretary Sunil Kumar, Planning and Development Secretary Mukesh Kumar, and other senior officials.
The review highlights the state government’s commitment to balanced urban growth, improved infrastructure, and sustainable development, with a strong focus on environmental conservation and public welfare.
