London’s Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley Meets CM Devendra Fadnavis; Focus on ‘Educity’ and ‘Medicity’ Opportunities to Boost Mumbai–London Cooperation

Mumbai, April 2026 : The Lady Mayor of the City of London, Dame Susan Langley, along with a UK delegation, paid a courtesy visit to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence, Varsha. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on investment opportunities in Mumbai and across Maharashtra.

The meeting highlighted Maharashtra as a leading investment destination and placed special emphasis not only on the manufacturing sector but also on emerging concepts such as ‘Educity’ and ‘Medicity’, which offer new avenues for growth and collaboration.

Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley stated that London is a key global hub for capital raising and expressed that it can serve as a reliable platform for industries in Maharashtra to expand at the international level.

She also expressed confidence that the India–UK Free Trade Agreement would further strengthen long-term economic partnerships between the two countries.

It was noted that the recent visit of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Mumbai and his interactions with industry leaders have already begun to reflect positively in the form of investment proposals.

Discussions were also held on establishing a structured dialogue mechanism to further strengthen cooperation between the global cities of Mumbai and London. In the context of the India–UK Free Trade Agreement, both sides stressed enhancing collaboration in sectors such as industry, infrastructure, and sustainable finance.

Both sides expressed a positive outlook toward exploring broader avenues of cooperation in the future, aiming to deepen economic and strategic ties between Mumbai and London.
