Do Not Stop on Connecting Link for Selfies; 24×7 CCTV Surveillance in Place: MSRDC Advisory
Mumbai, May 2026 : The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has urged motorists not to stop on the connecting link of the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway for taking selfies or photographs, warning that strict surveillance and penalties are in place.

Following its inauguration, the connecting link—also known as the “missing link”—has been opened for traffic. However, authorities have observed that some drivers are stopping their vehicles near the cable-stayed bridge and tunnels to click photos and selfies during their journey. MSRDC has cautioned that stopping vehicles on the expressway is strictly prohibited and poses a serious risk of accidents.
The connecting link was inaugurated on Maharashtra Day by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, among other dignitaries.
The highway police have issued a notification specifying speed limits for the Mumbai–Pune connecting link project. For light motor vehicles, the speed limit inside tunnels is set at 100 kmph, while buses and passenger vehicles are restricted to 80 kmph.
Authorities have also deployed a comprehensive 24×7 CCTV surveillance system across the two tunnels and two bridges on the connecting link. A dedicated control room has been established to monitor traffic, and any vehicles found stopping on the expressway will be reported to highway police for necessary action.
MSRDC has warned that stopping for selfies, photos, or making reels could lead to heavy fines and may endanger not only the individuals involved but also other commuters on the expressway.
Motorists have been strongly advised to follow traffic rules and avoid unnecessary halts to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience.
