Nitin Nabin Accuses Telangana CM of ‘Appeasement Politics’, Urges BJP Cadres to Fight Back

Hyderabad, Feb 2026 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that the Congress leader had crossed all limits of appeasement and was deliberately promoting divisions within society for political gain.

Addressing a public meeting in Mahabubnagar during his maiden visit to Telangana after assuming charge as BJP chief, Nitin Nabin said the BJP cadre was fully prepared to counter what he termed the “appeasement-driven politics” of the Congress government. His visit comes ahead of the February 11 municipal elections, which the BJP views as a crucial test of public sentiment in the state.

The BJP president alleged that the Chief Minister’s recent remark — “Congress means Muslims, Muslims means Congress” — exposed the party’s singular focus on minority vote-bank politics. According to Nitin Nabin, such statements reflected the Congress party’s disregard for inclusive governance and its attempt to polarise society for electoral advantage.

He said Telangana’s political landscape was at a critical juncture and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of consistently undermining the people of the region, their Telugu language, and cultural heritage. Nitin Nabin further alleged that the Congress government had shown disrespect towards the traditions and values of Sanatan Dharam, which, he said, formed the cultural backbone of the state.

Raising concerns over budgetary allocations, the BJP chief accused the Telangana government of reducing funds meant for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Backward Classes (BCs), while increasing allocations for minority welfare. He claimed this reflected the government’s skewed priorities and further deepened social inequalities.

Referring to the Telangana Waqf Board, Nitin Nabin said it was among the richest in the country, owning nearly 77,000 acres of land. He alleged that the state government was actively strengthening the Waqf Board as part of its appeasement agenda, rather than focusing on equitable development for all communities.

The BJP president also alleged that several temples were desecrated during the last two years of Congress rule in the state. Warning the ruling party, he said BJP workers would not remain silent in the face of repeated attacks on Sanatan Dharam. “If such attacks continue, the Congress government will not remain in power for long,” he cautioned.

Criticising the Congress for failing to honour its election promises, Nitin Nabin pointed out that the government had not delivered on its assurance of providing monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 to women. He accused the state administration of betraying farmers, women, SCs, STs and BCs by failing to fulfil commitments made before the elections.

He further alleged that a so-called “Raul Revanth tax” was being collected to clear bills related to development projects, accusing the government of running a “commission sarkar.” Calling for a change in leadership, he said the time had come to remove the Congress from power and bring the BJP to govern Telangana.

Highlighting the Centre’s role in the state’s development, Nitin Nabin said the Narendra Modi-led government had demonstrated its commitment to Telangana through major initiatives, including the announcement of three high-speed rail corridors in the recent Union Budget.

Referring to the BJP’s improved performance in the 2023 Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, where the party doubled its tally in the state, he urged party workers to build on this momentum and aim for securing 50 per cent of the vote share in the coming elections.

Earlier in the day, Nitin Nabin was accorded a warm welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, state BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, MP K. Lakshman, and several senior leaders and party workers received him.
