Special Electoral Roll Revision Announced Ahead of Baramati Assembly By-election
Mumbai, Feb 2026 :In view of the likelihood of an upcoming by-election to fill the vacant seat in the 201–Baramati Assembly constituency in Pune district, the Election Commission of India has announced a Special Summary Revision Programme of the Electoral Roll for the constituency. The programme has been declared under Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
The revision will be conducted with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. As per the directions of the Election Commission, the programme aims to ensure that the electoral roll remains updated, accurate, and transparent. Accordingly, the integrated draft electoral roll will be published on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Following this, claims and objections from voters will be accepted during the period from February 9 to February 25, 2026.
After scrutiny, all received claims and objections will be disposed of by March 6, 2026. The final electoral roll will then be published on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
To ensure effective implementation of the programme and to maintain coordination at the local level while preparing the list of polling stations, meetings will be organised with recognised political parties at the level of the Pune District Collector and District Election Officer, as well as the Baramati Electoral Registration Officer. During these meetings, political parties will be provided with detailed information about the programme, and necessary suggestions and exchanges of views will take place, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has informed.
