State-Level Training Held for Effective Implementation of DGCES
Jaipur, February 2026 : A one-day state-level training programme was organised for the effective implementation of the Digital General Crop Estimation Survey (DGCES) by the Agriculture and TRS Wing of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics at the Harish Chandra Mathur Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms Sonia Sharma, Director and Additional Statistical Adviser, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Director and Joint Secretary of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Mr Vinesh Singhvi, was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, Ms Sharma said that the Digital General Crop Estimation Survey (DGCES), initiated by the Ministry, has strengthened the traditional survey system with modern technological tools. This has led to significant improvement in the quality of Crop Cutting Experiment (CCE) data and enhanced the accuracy and reliability of crop yield estimates.
She explained that through the DGCES application, state governments can collect CCE data in real time using a mobile app and prepare yield estimates through a web portal. This digital system reduces manual intervention and ensures greater transparency, authenticity, and timely availability of data.
Mr Singhvi said that the General Crop Estimation Survey plays a crucial role in agricultural policy formulation, food security planning, and effective implementation of various welfare schemes. He instructed district-level officers to ensure proper utilisation of the technical knowledge gained during the training at the field level.
The programme was conducted by Dr Bhudev Singh. A total of 85 participants, including district-level officers and staff of the Statistics Department, took part in the state-level training programme.
