Enhancing Higher Education: Tamil Nadu’s Minister Discusses Key Policies and Initiatives.

The Honorable Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Kavi. Chezhiyan, held a research meeting today regarding the policies of the higher education sector.

The research meeting took place on October 10, 2024, at the Tamil Nadu State Higher Education Council. The meeting involved discussions about various initiatives and policies implemented by the higher education sector, including the Directorate of Technical Education, the Directorate of College Education, the Tamil Nadu Archives, and the Tamil Nadu State Higher Education Council, among others.

During the meeting, the Honorable Minister emphasized the need to pay special attention to the implementation of various plans, including the allocation of 7.5% reservation for government school students, fee waivers for first-generation graduates, research assistance schemes, and the research grant program. He instructed that these plans should be executed effectively to ensure that all students benefit from them.

The minister highlighted that while the number of students in higher education has increased, it is important to improve the quality of education. He urged all departments to work diligently and complete the ongoing projects without delay, ensuring that all vacancies in the department are filled efficiently and that legal cases related to governance are resolved promptly.

The minister also instructed that the initiatives under the “Chief Minister’s Student Assistance Scheme” should be effectively communicated to students, ensuring that they are aware of the benefits available to them.

The meeting was attended by additional officials from the higher education sector, including Dr. M. Mahabhal, Director of Tamil Nadu Higher Education, Dr. M.B. Vijayakumar (retired), former Director of Higher Education, and Dr. C. Swarna, Secretary of Higher Education, along with other government officials.
