90.80 quintals of paddy seized at Tarsinwa centre in Dhamtari

A team of Food Department officials seized 90 quintals and 80 kg of paddy brought by farmer Gopichand for sale at the procurement centre of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society Tarsiwan in Dhamtari district. This action of paddy seizure was taken after the allegation of mixing old paddy with new paddy by the farmer in connivance with Kochia and selling it at the support price was found to be true.  

It is worth mentioning that the team of Food Department officials reached Tarsiwa Paddy Procurement Center today on the basis of information received from the monitoring committee constituted there and tested the paddy brought by farmer Gopichand Sahu. In which it was found that he had brought old mixed variety of paddy. Farmer Gopichand told that in Ranwa, there is 1.75 hectare agricultural land in total 6 Khasras, which has been registered in the Procurement Center Tarsiwan. After the statement of farmer Gopichand, the Food Department officials and the committee members inspected all the Khasras of the farmer, in which paddy harvesting and threshing was found only on one Khasra area of ​​0.73 hectare and paddy was found in the fields on the remaining Khasras.

    The food officer informed that farmer Gopichand in connivance with Shri Devendra Kumar of village Rawan’s paddy Kochia tried to sell the remaining quantity of 52.48 quintals (old paddy of mixed variety) by bringing it to the procurement center. In this way, when farmer Gopichand Sahu was found selling paddy Kochia in his token fraudulently, 90.80 quintals of paddy brought for sale was seized by the members of the monitoring committee constituted at the procurement center Tarsiwan. Members of the monitoring committee constituted at the food department and the procurement center Tarsiwan, Smt. Basanti Netam, Smt. Chandrakala Sahu, Shri Vikas Kumar Sahu, Smt. Toshi Bhuarya were present in the action.
