Priyanka Gandhi Urges PM Modi to Raise Gaza Civilian Killings During Israel Visit
New Delhi, Feb 2026 : Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would raise the issue of the alleged killing of civilians in Gaza during his upcoming visit to Israel and press for justice on behalf of innocent victims.
Taking to social media platform X, Priyanka Gandhi said she hoped the Prime Minister would speak about what she described as the “genocide of thousands of innocent men, women and children” while addressing the Israeli Parliament. She appealed to India’s long-standing moral and diplomatic tradition, saying the country has historically stood for truth, peace and justice and should continue to project those values on the global stage.
Her remarks came just as Prime Minister Modi departed for a two-day official visit to Israel, his second since assuming office. In his departure statement, Modi said he was looking forward to high-level engagements with Israeli leadership aimed at further strengthening cooperation across a wide range of sectors and exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The discussions are expected to focus on advancing the India–Israel Strategic Partnership and setting new goals for collaboration in areas such as defence and security, science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, trade and investment, and people-to-people ties.
“This visit will help deepen our shared vision for an innovative and prosperous future,” Modi said, noting that bilateral relations have gained significant momentum in recent years. He added that India and Israel share a robust, multifaceted partnership that continues to grow in scope and depth.
Prime Minister Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog to discuss key bilateral and regional issues. A highlight of the visit will be Modi’s address to the Knesset, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to speak before Israel’s Parliament. Modi described the occasion as a tribute to the strong parliamentary traditions and democratic values shared by the two nations.
In addition, the Prime Minister said he was eager to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, acknowledging their role in nurturing and strengthening the special relationship between the two countries over the years.
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would reaffirm the deep and long-standing strategic partnership between India and Israel. According to the MEA, the trip provides an opportunity to review common challenges, align future efforts, and reinforce cooperation between two resilient democracies committed to innovation, security and shared prosperity.
Against this backdrop, Priyanka Gandhi’s appeal adds a political and humanitarian dimension to the visit, highlighting domestic expectations that India will balance strategic engagement with a principled stand on international human rights concerns.
