Iran seeks Urgent Meeting With IAEA.
Tehran; February 2026: Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Vienna sent a letter today, 28th February 2026, to the Director General Rafael Grossi of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) asking for an urgent emergency meeting of the group’s Board of Directors.
“This request arises in response to the unlawful military attacks initiated on 28 February 2026 against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the United States of America and the Israeli regime”, Ambassador Reza Najafi wrote. The envoy added that “in view of the extraordinary gravity of the circumstances”, Iran urges Grossi to “immediately convene the special session of the Board of Governors, so that Member States may urgently address the ongoing military attacks and the unprecedented threats against the peaceful and safeguarded facilities” in Iran.



Meanwhile, in a Press Release, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has asserted that, “No radiological impact has been detected”.
The IAEA is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, and urges restraint to avoid any Nuclear Safety Risks to people in the region. The IAEA is in permanent contact with countries in the region, so far, no evidence of any radiological impact. The Agency will keep monitoring the situation and informing.
