Chhattisgarh Ranks First in the Country under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

Becomes Number One among Large States; Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Minister Lakshmi Rajwade Extend Congratulations

Raipur, March 2026 : Chhattisgarh has achieved another significant national milestone in the field of women’s health, nutrition and empowerment. In the state-wise national ranking for February 2026 for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Chhattisgarh has secured the first position in the country in the category of large states, creating history. The state achieved this distinction by outperforming several other large states.

According to the released rankings, Chhattisgarh delivered an excellent performance with 93.37 percent enrollment, 83.87 percent approval rate, and 93.95 percent prompt grievance resolution. Meanwhile, the rate of cases pending for more than 30 days was only 7.07 percent, and the pending grievance rate stood at 4.96 percent, reflecting the effective and transparent implementation of the scheme. Notably, Chhattisgarh jumped six places compared to the previous month to secure the top position.

On this achievement, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the officers and employees of the Women and Child Development Department, along with Anganwadi workers and field staff. He said the state government is giving the highest priority to maternal and child health. He added that through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, financial assistance is being provided to pregnant women to promote safe motherhood, and Chhattisgarh securing the first position is proof of the continuous efforts made in this direction.

Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade described this achievement as a proud moment for the state and congratulated the departmental team. She said that due to the capable guidance and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of the leading states in the country. She added that the state has been able to achieve this milestone because of the coordination, commitment and timely work of officers, employees and Anganwadi workers.

Minister Rajwade expressed confidence that the department will continue to work with the same energy and dedication in the future to maintain this top position and ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible pregnant woman in the state on time. She also shared details about the implementation of the scheme, stating that in the financial year 2025–26, a total of 1,86,586 pregnant women have been registered under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in the state so far. The state government has transferred ₹72 crore 24 lakh 89 thousand directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiary women.

With the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, maternal and child health services in the state have gained new strength, and Chhattisgarh is emerging as an inspiring model for the rest of the country.
