Industrial Licensing Made Easier in Maharashtra; Electricity Rates to Gradually Decrease – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, March 2026 : Maharashtra has introduced major reforms in industrial licensing, with 20 out of 33 licenses now available through self-certification. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that efforts are underway to reduce the number of the remaining 13 licenses as well, further simplifying the process for entrepreneurs.

The announcement was made during a discussion session organized jointly by Ramky Group of Industries and MIDC on the establishment of a Bulk Drug Park and Life Sciences Hub. The event was attended by Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, Principal Secretary of Industries Dr. P. Anbalgan, Medical Education Commissioner Anil Bhandari, and entrepreneurs from the medical sector.

CM Fadnavis assured industrialists that electricity rates in Maharashtra will gradually decline over the next five years. The current rate of ₹10.88 per unit will reduce to ₹9.97 per unit, ensuring that by 2028-29, Maharashtra will have the lowest electricity rates in the country.

To provide a business-friendly environment, the ‘Maitri Portal’ has been given comprehensive authority. The portal will serve as a single window for all licenses, offering transparency and real-time tracking of applications. Any delay in service delivery within the prescribed timeline will result in action against the concerned authorities.

The Chief Minister emphasized a focus on green and sustainable infrastructure, including Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP), circular economy practices, and environmentally friendly technologies, aiming to make industries more environmentally responsible.

The initiative also promotes MSME participation, with the government providing incentives to suppliers of large industries. CM Fadnavis highlighted that public-private partnerships will be used to build world-class, affordable, and competitive industrial ecosystems.

Through these reforms, the Maharashtra government aims to create a stable and transparent business environment under the motto: “No Nonsense Business is Our Strategy in Business”. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these measures will make Maharashtra not only competitive nationally but also globally.
