Khelo India Tribal Games: Athletes Display Strength on Day Two
Raipur, March 2026 : Athletics events held on Tuesday at the sports complex in Dharampura, Jagdalpur in Bastar district as part of the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 generated great excitement among spectators. Dedicated to showcasing the talent and physical ability of tribal youth, the second day of competitions witnessed thrilling moments during the morning events.
In the men’s hurdles race, Assam athlete Trailokya Masrong delivered an outstanding performance, winning the gold medal with a time of 15.85 seconds. Telangana’s Sapawat Dattu secured silver with 16.65 seconds, while Tripura’s Hari Mohan Tripura claimed bronze with a time of 16.82 seconds.
Close competition was also seen in the men’s 100 metre and 400 metre races. In the 400 metre race, Gujarat athlete Santoshbhai Uttambhai Ganvit finished first with a time of 49.332 seconds, narrowly edging out Odisha’s Noble Kumar Kisan, who clocked 49.335 seconds to take second place. Karnataka’s Ramu finished third. In the 100 metre race, Jharkhand’s Shiv Kumar Soren won gold with a time of 10.58 seconds, followed by Chhattisgarh’s Tilak Barsel with 10.87 seconds for silver, and Odisha’s Atish Kindo with 10.91 seconds for bronze.
In the men’s long jump, Lakshadweep’s Abdul Fatah NM secured the gold medal with an impressive jump of 7.03 metres. Odisha athletes Bhima Sardar and Jeevan Mukti Bilung won silver and bronze respectively.
Field events also showcased strong performances. In the men’s discus throw, Gujarat’s Makwana Danish Dilipbhai won gold with a throw of 44.83 metres. A proud moment for Chhattisgarh came when local athlete Siddharth Nagesh secured silver with a distance of 35.56 metres, boosting the enthusiasm of the home crowd. Odisha’s Chandray Murmu finished third.
In the women’s category as well, athletes demonstrated remarkable determination. In the 100 metre race, Jharkhand’s Prithvi Orav clocked 12.73 seconds, while Nagaland’s Ruduolhaunounuo Beho finished second with 16.81 seconds. Jharkhand’s Putul Baskey secured the bronze medal.
