Government Stands with Farmers—Wheat Procurement to begin on Schedule: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that ensuring the welfare of farmers in every possible way is the state government’s commitment. He stated that the government stands firmly with farmers at all times, and wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will begin in the state as per the scheduled timeline. Wheat produced by all farmers registered on the procurement portal will be purchased. Under the procurement process, wheat from small farmers will be purchased first. This will be followed by the procurement of wheat from medium and large farmers. He also assured that there is no shortage of gunny bags in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a review meeting on preparations for wheat procurement at the Chief Minister’s residence, Samta Bhavan, on Sunday.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government is particularly sensitive to safeguarding the interests of farmers. Continuous efforts are being made to ensure the availability of gunny bags for wheat procurement. Farmers will not face any shortage of gunny bags during the procurement process. The state government is in constant contact with the Central Government, the Jute Commissioner and other supply agencies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of gunny bags.

Inspect Weighing Centres before Procurement Begins

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the wheat procurement system should be made simple, smooth, and convenient for farmers. Farmers should not face any difficulty in reaching procurement centres or selling their wheat. The Chief Minister directed senior officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department to establish a state-level control room, as well as control rooms in agricultural produce markets (mandis), for regular monitoring of the procurement system.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed that all weighing centres across the state be thoroughly inspected before April 10 in view of wheat procurement, so that farmers have no doubts about the arrangements. He further said that the existing infrastructure of agricultural produce markets in the state should be improved in a phased manner and upgraded to global standards to develop them into world-class mandis. The Chief Minister also directed that all basic facilities be provided for farmers arriving at wheat procurement centres, including electricity, drinking water, seating arrangements, shade, sanitation facilities and parking. No farmer should face any procedural or administrative inconvenience. Arrangements should be made to ensure that long queues of farmers or tractor-trolleys do not form at procurement centres and that wheat is weighed smoothly and efficiently. He also directed that payments for purchased wheat be transferred to farmers’ bank accounts within the shortest possible time.
