Commonwealth Sport Delegation Has Confirmed The Satisfactory Progress Pertinent To CWG 2030.

Ahmedabad; April 2030: “Mane Gamtu Amdavad – My City Ahmedabad”, which is aspiring while preparing to host the 2030 Common Wealth Games receives a formal acknowledgement from the Commonwealth Sports Delegation after the senior leadership of Commonwealth Sport visited India for a high level meeting with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya yesterday (10th April 2026).

The delegation, led by Commonwealth Sport (CS President Donald Rukare, along with CEO Katie Sadleir and Director of Games & Assurance Darren Hall, Director of Sport Ann-Louise Morgan, and major events expert Neil Carney undertook a comprehensive multi-city visit from 8-10 April, reviewing key venues and infrastructure across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Ekta Nagar, while appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision in making sports a vital pillar in the national development agenda.

The visit included inspections of competition venues such as Mahatma Mandir, Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Narendra Modi Stadium and IIT Gandhinagar, among others, as well as meetings with senior Government of Gujarat officials and city authorities. In addition to venue assessments, the delegation held discussions with senior Indian sports leadership, including engagements with the CGA (India), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and other stakeholders to review progress, governance frameworks, and delivery plans for the Games. The visit follows continued dialogue between Commonwealth Sport and Indian stakeholders on strengthening the vision for a landmark centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030.

Dr Donald Rukare, President, Commonwealth Sport, said, “We are very impressed by the scale of planning, quality of venues, and the strong support from national and state authorities in India. Amdavad’s vision for the 2030 Commonwealth Games is both ambitious and forward looking. The centenary presents a unique moment to celebrate the Games’ rich history while reimagining how they are delivered for the next 100 years. Our discussions this week have reinforced our confidence in India’s capability to deliver a truly landmark edition in 2030”.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, held a high-level meeting with senior leadership of Commonwealth Sport, reaffirming India’s commitment to delivering a world-class, athlete-centric, and sustainable Commonwealth Games in 2030. Mandaviya has conveyed his regards to the Commonwealth Sport delegation for choosing India as the host for the Commonwealth Games 2030. “There is a lot of enthusiasm in the country to host these games successfully, and India is ready to welcome the sporting world, with all its colour and cultural vibrancy. The centenary celebrations of the Commonwealth would be a moment to remember”, Mandaviya said.

With due cognizance to Khelo India Games, the Sports Minister explained to the Commonwealth Sport delegation the expansion of the Khelo India Games. He highlighted the different types of sports and games being conducted under Khelo India, including Asmita Leagues for women and the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games. Mandaviya also mentioned how the Government of India is taking the message of the Commonwealth Games to different parts of the country and is raising awareness for CWG in universities and colleges through youth and sportsmen.

During the meeting, Mandaviya outlined Ahmedabad’s strong infrastructure base, connectivity, and institutional backing as key strengths for hosting CWG 2030. Mandaviya further emphasised the strong focus on legacy planning, including the creation of durable sports infrastructure and increased grassroots participation across the country.

While addressing the media reporters, Donald Rukare said, “We’re happy to be here in New Delhi. Preparations for the Commonwealth Games are moving at a smooth pace. We’re very happy to see all the political leadership and support for the Games, right from the Prime Minister to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Deputy Chief Minister, and our colleagues at the Commonwealth Games India. There is no doubt that everybody’s getting behind the games, and when we get into more preparation mode as we move forward, it’s only going to get better, and by 2030, we should be ready to welcome all the countries and territories here in India, but more specifically in Ahmedabad”.

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha expressed her pleasure over India hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games, after the senior leadership of Commonwealth Sport visited India for a high level meeting with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya.

PT Usha who is also the President, Commonwealth Games Association (India), have reiterated: “India is honoured to host the Commonwealth Sport delegation and showcase the significant progress made towards delivering a world-class Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030. The visit reflects our shared commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation in sport. We are confident that, together with Commonwealth Sport and all stakeholders, we will deliver a truly historic and athlete centric Games that inspire the Commonwealth”.
