Iranian Foreign Minister Returns To Islamabad To Pursue Further Discussions With Pakistan.

Islamabad; April 2026: On 26th April 2026 around 19:45 hours (IST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has landed at Islamabad for further discussions with Pakistani mediators in finding out a way to end the hostilities prevalent in the Middle East.

He arrived at Nur Khan Airbase on the outskirts of the Pakistani capital to hold further consultations with Pakistani officials, who mediated a two-week ceasefire between Tehran and Washington earlier this month and requested that it be extended. He had left Islamabad just about 24 hours ago yesterday (IST) after engaging with discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside Army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Before arriving at Islamabad, Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations on Sunday with his counterparts from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as part of broad diplomatic efforts to end the US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

In a call with Qatari Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Araghchi stressed the need for continued diplomatic consultations and coordination to support peace initiatives and promote regional stability. He outlined the current situation, particularly issues pertaining to the Pakistan-brokered ceasefire between Iran and the US, as well as challenges to stabilizing it.

Al Thani welcomed Iran’s diplomatic approach and stated that Doha is ready to play an active role in mediating and facilitating discussions with the aim of ending the anti-Iran war.

Separately, Araghchi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud exchanged views on the latest developments in West Asia and ongoing diplomatic efforts. The Iranian foreign minister elaborated on the situation regarding the Tehran-Washington ceasefire and briefed the Saudi Foreign minister on Tehran’s diplomatic moves to end the war and ease tensions. Earlier today, Araghchi also held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Meanwhile, back at Tehran, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry says its forces have arrested terrorists behind the shooting at people who participated in street rallies in Kerman province to condemn the illegal US-Israeli war of aggression against the country.

In a statement released today, minutes before Araghchi landed at Islamabad, the ministry said that its forces, in cooperation with forces from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), police, and the provincial Justice Department, managed to identify and arrest the main terrorist responsible for shooting at the protesters in Kerman’s Azadi Square, and his three accomplices, including two men and a woman.

It added that the terrorists opened fire on people at the anti-war gathering, injuring two men and a young girl. The arrested terrorists are affiliated with a pro-monarchist group led by the child-killing Zionist regime, according to the statement. Several firearms and hunting weapons, as well as significant amounts of ammunition and explosive devices, were confiscated from the terrorist team.
