“No accounts, no ledgers, whatever Kejriwal says is right: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

Constantly questioning the judicial system reflects Kejriwal’s mindset: CM Rekha Gupta

Fleeing from the courts while claiming to undertake a ‘Satyagraha” is an attempt to mislead the public: CM

New Delhi, April 2026 :Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Monday hit back sharply at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his letter to a High Court judge and his recent public remarks, saying his approach increasingly reflects a belief that “whatever Kejriwal says is the ultimate truth.”

Speaking to reporters, CM Rekha Gupta said Kejriwal’s conduct suggests he is acting as “his own lawyer, witness and judge.” “If he alone decides everything, what role is left for the judicial system?” she asked, adding that repeatedly questioning judicial institutions and casting doubts on constitutional processes appears to have become part of his political style.

The Chief Minister said refusing to appear in court while publicly levelling allegations against a judge is not only inappropriate but also undermines the dignity of the judiciary. She pointed out that when a chargesheet has already been filed in a serious case, seeking a change of judge or court on the grounds that the verdict may go against him raises serious questions about intent.

CM also took strong exception to Kejriwal comparing himself with national icons such as Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh, calling it ‘deeply objectionable and shameful.’ Invoking such figures in this manner, she said, diminishes their legacy. “If someone claims to be innocent, they should prove it in court,” she said. “Sitting outside and calling it satyagraha is nothing but a cheap gimmick. Neither the public accepts this, nor does the judicial system.” She added that creating noise in public cannot establish innocence, the truth must be tested in a court of law.

Responding to a question on Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, the Chief Minister said anyone willing to contribute honestly to nation-building in the national interest should be welcomed. Referring to Chadha and others, she said those guided by a ‘Nation First’ approach should come forward, while those who show disrespect towards the country, the armed forces, or betray public trust should be isolated. “National interest must remain paramount,” she said.

Censure motion against Opposition in Assembly

The Chief Minister said a special session of the Delhi Assembly has been convened on Tuesday to move a censure motion against the Opposition. She said women across the country had hoped that 33% reservation would be granted after the recent Lok Sabha session, but that did not happen. Accusing the Opposition of playing a “deeply disappointing role,” she alleged it had betrayed women. The special session, she said, is being called to formally record this condemnation.
