Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari Reviews Tourism, Art, Culture and Archaeology Projects; Directs Faster Development Works
Jaipur, May 2026 : Diya Kumari on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting of the Tourism, Art & Culture, and Archaeology departments at the Secretariat and directed officials to accelerate tourism infrastructure and heritage conservation projects across Rajasthan.
The meeting was attended by Tourism, Art and Culture Secretary Shuchi Tyagi and Tourism Commissioner Rukmini Riyad, along with senior departmental officials.
During the review, Diya Kumari stressed the need for rapid development of tourism infrastructure in the state. She said providing basic facilities conveniently to tourists should remain the top priority of the government.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to speed up conservation and restoration work of the historic havelis in the Shekhawati region. She also instructed that tourism-related infrastructure in the region be developed on priority to boost visitor footfall and preserve Rajasthan’s heritage identity.
Reviewing the progress of stepwell conservation projects, she instructed officials to ensure that restoration work on identified baoris across the state is carried out under the supervision of expert consultants while maintaining the original architectural style of the monuments.
Diya Kumari also reviewed plans related to the proposed MICE Centre and issued necessary directions regarding the project. She instructed officials to proceed with further action in coordination with the Jaipur Development Authority after the lease for the MICE Centre at Vidhyadhar Nagar is formally issued to the Tourism Department.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the Pushkar Development Project, during which officials briefed her on the progress achieved so far.
While reviewing the proposed tourism app, she directed officials to complete its development at the earliest to improve tourist access to information and services.
The meeting also discussed the condition of RTDC assets. Officials informed her that a draft study report had been prepared by the department’s consultancy firm. They further stated that the tender process for a new Tourism Facilitation Centre in Jaipur’s walled city area is currently underway.
Diya Kumari instructed officials to expedite the required procedures for the Amer Light and Sound Show project. She also directed them to accelerate development works related to the Amer-Nahargarh region and nearby tourist areas, along with the Jal Mahal development project.
Discussions were also held on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Amer Master Plan. Officials informed the meeting that the project is estimated to cost around Rs 50 crore, of which DPRs for works worth Rs 11 crore will be prepared by ADMA.
Reviewing the activities of the Archaeology and Museums Department, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritise the restoration of historical havelis in the Shekhawati region. She also directed that heritage walks, heritage street furniture, and cleanliness-related facilities at heritage sites be developed quickly to improve the tourist experience.
Officials briefed her on the ongoing initiatives being undertaken by the Archaeology Department in this regard.
Diya Kumari further directed authorities to expedite development works at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Ravindra Manch, and Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, along with the proposed development works at Shilpgram as announced in the state budget.
