Journalists Mozammel Babu, Shyamal Dutta Detained Near Dobaura Border in Mymensingh
Journalists Mozammel Haque Babu and Shyamal Dutta, along with two others, were detained today while attempting to flee to India through the Dobaura border in Mymensingh district.
“Locals apprehended them at 6 a.m. near the Dobaura border and handed them over to Dobaura Police Station. All four individuals are currently in police custody,” said M Chan Mia, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Dobaura Police Station.
The detainees include Mozammel Haque Babu, managing director and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV; Shyamal Dutta, editor of Dainik Bhorer Kagoj and former general secretary of the Jatiya Press Club; Ekattor TV senior reporter Mahbubur Rahman; and their private car driver, Salim, according to the OC.
Superintendent of Police for Mymensingh, M Azizul Islam, stated, “Necessary legal action will be taken against them in relation to their previous cases.”
