Priyanka Gandhi Says ‘Youth Cannot Be Silenced’ After Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

Wayanad, July 2026 : Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday said the voice of India’s youth could not be suppressed, reacting to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid nationwide protests over examination irregularities and paper leaks.

Speaking to reporters in Kerala’s Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi said she became emotional on hearing the news, describing the development as a significant moment for young people who had been demanding accountability and reforms in the education system.

Reflecting on the past decade, the Congress leader said she had often wondered when the country’s youth would collectively raise their voices against issues affecting their future. According to her, the recent protests demonstrated that young Indians were now prepared to stand up for their rights and seek answers from those in power.

Priyanka Gandhi also criticised the functioning of the education system, alleging that educational institutions had increasingly come under ideological influence over the past several years. She claimed appointments to key academic positions had reflected this trend, adding that the country’s educational values had been systematically weakened.

The Congress MP further alleged that force had repeatedly been used against students and citizens who protested government policies. She said the latest developments proved that despite such actions, the younger generation could not be silenced.

“I am very happy that the youth of our country have spoken. Nobody can ever dare to silence their voice,” she said, adding that the protests had highlighted the determination and resilience of students across the country.

Pradhan’s resignation came after weeks of nationwide demonstrations demanding action over examination irregularities, including the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG paper leak. One of the principal demands of the protesting students had been the Education Minister’s resignation, with protesters arguing that accountability should begin at the highest level.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which has been leading the student agitation, described the resignation as a “victory for democracy.” Addressing supporters, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the development showed that sustained public pressure could compel governments to respond to the demands of citizens.

Dipke also paid tribute to students who allegedly lost their lives following the examination controversy, saying the resignation was dedicated to their memory and to all those who had fought for justice.

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had also supported the movement, echoed similar sentiments. In a post on social media platform X, Wangchuk called the resignation a “victory of democracy,” praising the peaceful and persistent campaign led by students and young citizens across the country.

He congratulated the protesters for their determination and urged that the focus should now shift from accountability to comprehensive reforms aimed at restoring public confidence in India’s examination system.

The resignation has intensified the national debate over examination reforms, transparency in recruitment processes and measures needed to safeguard the future of millions of students appearing for competitive examinations.
