Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.V. Panneerselvam Conducts Review Meeting on Fertilizer Distribution and Pesticide Application

Chennai : Under the leadership of the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr. M.R.V. Panneerselvam, a review meeting on fertilizer distribution and pesticide application was conducted today at the office of the Director of Agriculture.

In the meeting, the Minister discussed the strategies for effective fertilizer distribution and pesticide application in the state. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Agricultural Production Commissioner and State Chief Secretary Dr. Apoorva, IAS, Director of Fertilizer and Pesticide Application Mr. P. Kumaravel Pandian, IAS, and Director of Agriculture Mr. S. Murugesh, IAS, along with other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Honorable Minister reviewed the progress of the plans related to fertilizer distribution and pesticide application. He stressed the importance of providing certified and high-quality fertilizers to farmers and ensuring their availability through regulated means.

He directed that strict enforcement of fertilizer control regulations should be implemented to ensure quality and prevent malpractice. The officials were instructed to take appropriate action against violators under the relevant sections of the Fertilizer Control Act and to pursue legal measures when necessary.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of accurately documenting the details of fertilizers and pesticides, including the type, variety, and the date of production, on receipts provided during the sale of these products. He also insisted that receipts be issued during the sale of crops such as banana and fruit trees.

The Minister urged farmers and traders to send fertilizer samples to the designated laboratories for quality testing. A fee of Rs. 80/- per sample will be charged to receive the quality certification of the fertilizers.
