Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Bicentennial Birth Anniversary Celebration : Governor Shri Baghde
Jaipur : Governor Shri Haribhau Baghde hailed Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati as a restorer of nationalism and Vedic India, urging people to draw inspiration from his teachings.
Governor Baghde addressed the bicentennial birth anniversary celebration of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati organized by Paropkarini Sabha in Ajmer. He noted that Rajasthan was the land of his work.
The Governor stated that Maharishi Dayanand initiated the freedom movement alongside the revival of Indian nationalism. He considered “Swaraj” (self-rule) superior to “Suraj” (good governance) and emphasized that the solution to all difficulties lay in awakening the nation’s self-respect, pride, culture, and identity. Swamiji always advocated for the use of the native language.
Shri Baghde added that Maharishi Dayanand demonstrated the path of Satyagraha through his conduct, led campaigns against discrimination, caste hierarchy, and untouchability, and promoted women’s education. He was a visionary who liberated India from ignorance and superstition, helping society overcome blind faith.
The Governor highlighted that the Arya Samaj, founded by Maharishi Dayanand, aimed to empower women and eliminate outdated customs and discrimination. His book “Satyarth Prakash” encompasses the essence of the Vedas. Despite attempts by outsiders to destroy centers of knowledge in India, the scholars of the land revived the wisdom through their intellect.
Former minister and legislator Smt. Anita Bhadel, and Haryana Information Commissioner Shri Kulveer Chikara also shared their thoughts on Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati’s philosophy and principles.
