Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for Development Projects in Chennai Corporation Areas

Chennai : Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin today inaugurated 17 completed development projects worth ₹29.88 crore in Chennai Corporation zones. He also laid the foundation stone for 493 new projects worth ₹279.50 crore and issued job appointment orders to 559 individuals.

In an event held today (9th December 2024) at Ripon Building, Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated 17 development projects completed in Chennai Corporation zones at a cost of ₹29.88 crore for public use. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for 493 new projects worth ₹279.50 crore and issued job appointment orders to 559 individuals.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Chennai Corporation is emerging as a financial hub for Tamil Nadu, gaining significance in India and globally. Continuous efforts are made in areas such as roads, bridges, stormwater drains, basic infrastructure, and maintenance projects to enhance Chennai’s infrastructure.

Among the inaugurated projects are eight new sports grounds, two renovated water bodies, two new parks for public recreation and health, a new community hall, additional healthcare buildings, and three dog sterilization centers, all completed at a cost of ₹29.88 crore.

For future development, foundation stones were laid for 12 water body renovation projects, the Marina Beach Blue Flag initiative, three rainwater harvesting systems, 291 Amma canteen maintenance works, ten new fitness walkways, three social welfare centers, hostels for nurses and women, two urban health centers, vegetable and flower market upgrades, three mobile library units, three pedestrian overpasses, and new drainage systems for 7,644 streets. Also included are repairs for 148 schools, 12 veterinary clinics, and new dog sterilization centers—all at a cost of ₹279.50 crore.

Following this, the Deputy Chief Minister issued compassionate job appointment orders to 106 dependents of deceased employees and regularized 453 health department workers, including medical staff, nurses, and sanitation workers.

The event was attended by Hon’ble Minister for Municipal Administration Mr. K.N. Nehru, Hon’ble Minister for MSMEs Mr. T.M. Anbarasan, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. Ma. Subramanian, Hon’ble Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Mr. P.K. Sekar Babu, Chennai Mayor Ms. R. Priya, legislative members, and senior government officials.
