Experts Brainstrom on Improving NMR and MMR under the ‘Sankalp Project’ in Khargone District
A Co-Development Workshop was organized under the Sankalp Project by the National Health Mission (NHM), Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal, with the goal of achieving a single-digit Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) by 2030. The workshop focused on developing a research-based action plan to implement effective strategies in Khargone district. This initiative aims to create an efficient model for reducing Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). The successful implementation of this model in Khargone will serve as a blueprint for scaling up across the state, ensuring the state achieves its target of bringing NMR and MMR to single digits by 2030.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Sankalp Team. Dr. V.K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General, ICMR, joined the workshop virtually via video conferencing. The event was chaired by Dr. Saloni Sidana, Mission Director, NHM, Madhya Pradesh, and was attended by key members of the Sankalp Project, including Dr. Ramesh Agarwal (Principal Investigator and Head, Department of Neonatology, AIIMS Delhi), Dr. Deepak Chawla, Dr. Yogesh Jain, Dr. Aashu Grover, Dr. Amlin Shukla, and scientists from ICMR.
