Unveiling Ceremony of Florence Nightingale’s Statue at Rajasthan Nursing Council—Health Minister Highlights Her Indelible Contribution to Humanity

Jaipur : Health and Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar stated that the state government is working with commitment to upgrade health services in Rajasthan. He emphasized the government’s efforts to fill all vacant positions for nurses and paramedical staff, ensuring quality healthcare services reach even the remotest villages and hamlets. The minister highlighted that over 20,000 vacant positions in the Medical and Health Department have been filled in a short span.

Mr. Khimsar was addressing the unveiling ceremony of Florence Nightingale’s statue at the Rajasthan Nursing Council premises. He unveiled the statue of the founder of modern nursing and also participated in a tree-planting initiative on the occasion.

The Health Minister said that Florence Nightingale was a symbol of service to suffering humanity and left an indelible mark in this field. She not only cared for patients but also improved hospital standards of hygiene and care. Her service to wounded soldiers during the Crimean War earned her the title of the “Lady with the Lamp.” Nightingale elevated nursing to a respectable profession and empowered women, making her dedication and service an inspiration for all.

Remaining Vacant Nursing Positions to be Filled Soon—
Mr. Khimsar assured that the government is prioritizing nursing and paramedical services. He noted that the previous government’s neglect in recruitment had weakened nursing services. However, through mission-mode recruitment, many vacancies have been filled, and the remaining positions will be addressed soon. He added that transparency in appointments is being ensured, with new recruits assigned roles through a portal based on merit and humanitarian considerations.

Transparent Transfer Guidelines—
The minister mentioned that the government has lifted restrictions on transfers in the public interest. Transfers in the Medical and Health Department will now follow transparent guidelines. Priority will be given to women, persons with disabilities, and those suffering from critical illnesses. The department is also formulating a transfer policy to ensure fair rotations and provide relief to all employees.

Portability Feature in CM Ayushman Yojana—
Mr. Khimsar said that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has allocated a record budget for the medical sector, implementing the CM Ayushman Yojana to provide accessible treatment to citizens. The scheme’s scope is being expanded, and portability will soon be introduced to allow citizens from Rajasthan to seek treatment outside the state and vice versa.

Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma commended the government for setting milestones in healthcare within a short tenure, strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Rajasthan. He remarked that nursing embodies dedication, service, and humility, and praised nursing personnel for their compassionate service to humanity.

Registrar of Rajasthan Nursing Council, Bharti Singh, delivered the welcome address and shared updates on the council’s activities. Senior officials, including Director of Public Health Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, Non-Gazetted Director Rakesh Sharma, Vice President of the Indian Nursing Council Joginder Sharma, and RNC Controller of Examinations Anil Choudhary, along with other officials and nursing personnel, were present at the event.
