Tamil Development Department to Organize Statewide Competitions for Students

The Tamil Development Department conducts annual competitions in poetry, essay writing, and elocution for school and college students across all 38 districts. District-level winners are provided the opportunity to compete at the state level, where prizes and certificates of merit are awarded.

In Chennai District, competitions for students of classes 11 and 12 will be held on January 21, 2025, at Anna Alangaram High School, commencing at 9:00 AM. Participants will receive participation certificates, while the top three winners in each category will be awarded prizes and certificates as follows:

District-Level Prizes (Schools):

For college students, the competitions will be held on January 22, 2025, at Kayibath Millath Ayesha Women’s College, starting at 9:00 AM. The prize structure will be the same as for school students.

District-Level Prizes (Colleges):

State-Level Competitions:

The winners from each district will advance to the state-level competitions to be held in Chennai. Competitions for school students will take place on January 28, 2025, and for college students on January 29, 2025. The prize structure for the state-level competitions is as follows:

A total prize fund of ₹52,38,000/- will be allocated for district and state-level competitions.
