Maharashtra Police Honored with 48 Police Medals, Four Officers Awarded President’s Distinguished Service Medal
New Delhi : The announcement of Police Medals was made today, with a total of 48 police personnel from Maharashtra being honored. Among them, four police officers were awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding service, while 44 officers and personnel were recognized with the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). Of these, 39 medals were for meritorious service, and five were awarded to police personnel serving in correctional facilities under the category of meritorious services.
On the occasion of Republic Day, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs annually announces police medals to recognize the bravery and service of police personnel across the country. This year, a total of 942 medals were awarded nationwide, which include:
- 101 President’s Distinguished Service Medals (PSM)
- 95 Police Gallantry Medals (PMG)
- 746 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM)
Maharashtra received a total of 48 medals, with four officers being honored with the President’s Distinguished Service Medal for exemplary service:

- Dr. Ravindra Kumar Jhile Singh Single – Additional Director General
- Dattatray Rajaram Karale – Inspector General of Police
- Sunil Baliram Phulari – Inspector General of Police
- Ramchandra Babu Kende – Police Commandant
Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM)
A total of 44 officers and personnel from Maharashtra were recognized for their meritorious service, including:
- Sanjay Bhaskar Darade – Inspector General
- Virendra Mishra – Inspector General
- Arti Prakash Singh – Inspector General
- Chandra Kishore Ramjilal Meena – Inspector General
- Deepak Krishna Sakhore – Deputy Inspector General
- Rajesh Ramchandra Bansode – Superintendent of Police
- Sunil Jaysingh Tambe – Deputy Superintendent of Police
- Mamta Lawrence D’Souza – Assistant Police Commissioner
- (Additional names in the list include inspectors, sub-inspectors, and head constables who were honored for their exemplary service in various roles.)
Medals for Correctional Services (MSM)
Five personnel were awarded for meritorious service in correctional facilities:
- Vivek Vasant Zhende – Additional Superintendent
- Ahmed Shamshuddin Maner – Havildar
- Ganesh Mahadev Gaikwad – Havildar
- Pralhad Dattatray Kudale – Havildar
- Tulshiram Kashinath Gorave – Havildar
