Bengal Tigers Captain Rupinder Singh Reflects on Hockey India League Triumph

Mumbai: Shruti Radhe Bengal Tigers showcased exceptional defensive discipline and strategic execution, which proved crucial in their victory at the Hockey India League, said captain Rupinder Singh. The team clinched the Hero Hockey India League 2024-25 title with a thrilling 4-3 win over Hyderabad Hurricanes.

“We made a conscious effort to strengthen our defense after the semi-finals. In the final, it was crucial to capitalize on our opportunities, and we did just that,” Rupinder stated in a release.

Topping the league stage with 19 points from 10 matches, Bengal Tigers faced a tough semi-final against Tamil Nadu Dragons, which ended in a 2-2 draw before they edged out their opponents 6-5 in the shootout. Learning from that intense battle, the team entered the final with a refined tactical approach. Star drag-flicker Jugraj emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 12 goals, playing a pivotal role in their success.

For Rupinder, this victory is a testament to the team’s resilience and unwavering belief. “It has been an incredible journey for us, especially with the return of the Hockey India League after a gap of seven years,” he said. “There were ups and downs, but everything fell into place in the end. Our belief, hard work, and perseverance led us to this title, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team.”
