A. Revanth Reddy Orders Immediate Issuance of New Ration Cards in Telangana
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to expedite the process of issuing new ration cards across the state. In a recent review, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgency of fast-tracking applications submitted through Public Administration Requests, the Caste Census, Gram Sabhas, and Mee Seva Centres. While multiple opportunities for application have been given, concerns were raised about the increasing number of repeated applications by the same families, which was causing a backlog. In response, the Chief Minister directed officials to take immediate action to resolve this issue by issuing the new cards without any further delay.
He emphasized that all eligible families should receive their ration cards, but also called for greater awareness to prevent unnecessary duplicate applications. The Chief Minister suggested that new cards be prioritized in districts where the election code of conduct is not active, with distribution to be completed in all districts once the code of conduct is lifted. During the meeting, various design options for the new ration cards, prepared by the Civil Supplies Department, were also reviewed.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Chief Minister’s Advisor V. Narendra Reddy, and senior officials from the relevant departments were present during the meeting.
This initiative is expected to streamline the process and ensure that eligible families receive the necessary support without delays.
