MoU Signed with ‘Youth for Jobs’ to Provide Employment Opportunities for Disabled Youth – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : The Maharashtra government is committed to empowering disabled youth by providing them with training and employment opportunities, ensuring their financial independence. To facilitate this, the government plans to issue Unique Disability IDs (UDID) to all registered disabled individuals over the next five years. Additionally, in collaboration with non-governmental organizations, various initiatives are being effectively implemented to support their development.

In line with this effort, the state government will soon sign an MoU with ‘Youth for Jobs’ to provide skill training and employment opportunities for disabled individuals. In the initial phase, the organization will work in collaboration with the government in the Vidarbha and North Maharashtra regions, gradually expanding the initiative across the state. This initiative will create more job opportunities for disabled youth, expressed CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The government remains dedicated to ensuring that individuals with disabilities, whether congenital or due to accidents, receive their rightful benefits under various schemes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed India’ has led to several key initiatives aimed at increasing employment through skill-based education. The Maharashtra government is also taking significant steps in this direction for youth welfare.

Meera Shenoy, the founder and president of ‘Youth for Jobs,’ has worked extensively in collaboration with the central government and the Gadchiroli district administration to boost employment opportunities for disabled youth. The organization provides specialized training based on the type of disability and organizes job fairs to match skilled candidates with industry demands. Companies such as Lifestyle International, Aditya Birla Fashion, Reliance Trends, IIFL, Laksh Hospital, Milan Coffee House, HPCL, BPCL, and other private enterprises have contributed to this initiative by offering job placements. Additionally, self-employment opportunities are being provided to those unable to take up jobs, integrating them into the mainstream workforce.

To ensure that all disabled individuals in the state benefit from government schemes, an updated database is being created. The registration of all disabled persons is in progress, with UDID cards being issued to facilitate access to central and state welfare programs. The state government is making every possible effort to provide them with the necessary support.

In the first phase, ‘Youth for Jobs’ will work with the government in Vidarbha and North Maharashtra, with the local district administration extending full cooperation. CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that more local NGOs will come forward to support this initiative, contributing to the holistic development of society.
