Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Directs Swift Completion of Roads, Water Projects, and Health Centers in Maval Taluka
Meeting Held to Accelerate Infrastructure Projects in Maval
Mumbai : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed officials to expedite road construction, water supply projects, and healthcare infrastructure in Maval Taluka. He emphasized the immediate completion of development works in the Shri Ekvira Temple complex at Karla and assured efforts to secure central support for road widening and flyover projects to ease highway congestion.
In a high-level meeting held at Mantralaya, Pawar directed authorities to fast-track work on Lonavala and Vadgaon (Kanhé) sub-district hospitals. He also stressed the need for a well-equipped sports complex at Mauje Jambhul to enhance Maval Taluka’s reputation. Water supply projects in Dehu Nagar Panchayat, Khadkale, Varale, Done Adhale, Dongargaon Kusgaon, Patan, Karla, and surrounding areas must be completed at the earliest, he added. The construction of a funicular ropeway at Karla and the overall development of the Shri Ekvira Temple premises were also prioritized.

Recognizing the increasing number of tourists and devotees in Lonavala and Karla, Pawar announced the establishment of dedicated tourist police stations at both locations for enhanced safety. He also committed to personally following up with the Union Ministry of Road Transport to secure funding for highway expansions and flyover construction in Talegaon, Chakan, and Shikrapur.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy CM Pawar, focused on resolving implementation challenges for key development projects in Maval. It was attended by Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar (via VC), local MLA Sunil Shelke, and senior officials from urban development, public works, finance, water supply, health, MSRDC, MSIDC, home, and sports departments, along with Pune district officials and police representatives.
Highlighting Shri Ekvira Devi Temple’s religious significance, Pawar noted that lakhs of devotees visit annually. The sanctioned funicular ropeway at Vehergaon will ensure faster access to the temple, and he directed its swift execution.
He also instructed authorities to expedite initial construction phases for Lonavala and Vadgaon (Kanhé) sub-district hospitals and submit proposals for pending works. For the Jambhul sports complex, 2.6 hectares of land have been allocated, with plans for kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, football, tennis, a running track, and spectator stands. Pawar assured immediate funding for these projects, with additional allocations as needed.
Accelerating Water Supply Projects
Pawar reviewed the status of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran-approved regional water supply schemes, including Done Adhale, expanded Dongargaon Kusgaon, Patan, Karla, and eight nearby villages, as well as Khadkale, Varale, and Dehu Nagar Panchayat. He instructed officials to expedite these water projects to ensure timely completion.
