Construction of Housing for Middle and Lower-Income Groups is the Priority of the Housing Board : Minister Shri Vijayvargiya
Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya has directed officials of the Madhya Pradesh Housing Board to prioritize meeting the housing needs of the middle and lower-income groups. He emphasized that the board should enhance its reputation among the public through the quality of its work. He also instructed that every project of the board should be thoroughly reviewed and completed within the stipulated timeframe. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya was reviewing the construction activities of the Madhya Pradesh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board in a meeting held in Bhopal today. The additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development and Housing, Shri Sanjay Shukla, was also present. The minister will conduct another review of the board’s progress in the next two months.
Minister Shri Vijayvargiya stated that the timely completion of the board’s commercial complexes will boost economic activities in the region and generate employment opportunities for the youth. He assured that any delays caused by coordination issues between different agencies involved in the board’s projects would be effectively addressed. He also instructed that a proper mechanism should be put in place to ensure the long-term maintenance of the residential and commercial complexes developed by the board. Furthermore, he suggested that newly developed complexes should be named after great personalities.
Minister Shri Vijayvargiya emphasized that the commercial tower to be constructed on Indore’s Hukumchand Mill premises should be an iconic landmark. During the meeting, it was revealed that the Housing Board has sold properties worth Rs. 815 crore in the past five years. So far, the board has developed more than 3.5 lakh housing units across the state.
The meeting also reviewed housing projects, Atal Ashray, redevelopment (re-densification and re-development), and the Su-Raj scheme. Work is currently underway on 106 re-densification projects in the state, with an estimated construction cost of approximately Rs. 5,770 crore.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Shukla informed everyone that efforts are being made to fill vacant posts in the Housing Board through various agencies to enhance its working capacity. He added that special attention is being given to plantation drives to keep the board’s premises green. Additionally, plans are being prepared to involve private agencies in strengthening the board’s marketing system.
