Inauguration of the Third ‘Shram Ann Kendra’ for Workers
Nutritious Full Meal for Just ₹5 for Workers
Raipur : Taking another significant step for the welfare of workers, the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Shram Ann Kendra was inaugurated in the Shanichari Chantidih area of Bilaspur city. MLA Sushant Shukla inaugurated this center on the auspicious occasion of Bhakt Mata Karma Jayanti and shared a meal with the workers. This Shram Ann Kendra will provide registered workers with a full meal for just ₹5. Under this initiative, around 700 workers will receive meals daily. Prior to this, two Shram Ann Kendras were already operating in Vrihaspati Bazaar and Tifra, benefiting 1,800 workers. With the launch of this new center, the number of beneficiaries will increase further.
During the inauguration, MLA Sushant Shukla stated that the workers of the Chantidih area had requested a meal center three months ago, and the demand was fulfilled in a short span under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Labor Minister Lakhanlal Devangan. He assured the workers that he would personally conduct surprise inspections to ensure the quality of food. On this occasion, Mayor Pooja Vidhani also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that workers are directly benefiting from the ‘Triple Engine Government’—the central, state, and local bodies working together.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Commissioner of the Labor Department, Jyoti Sharma, highlighted that many workers leave home early in search of work, often skipping meals, which affects their health. Recognizing this issue, the government introduced this scheme, allowing workers to get nutritious meals for just ₹5 or take packed food in tiffins. The Shram Ann Kendra will remain open from 8 AM to 11 AM.
On this occasion, Labor Inspector Yoshita Sharma informed workers about other government welfare schemes, while Assistant Labor Officer R.K. Tamhane expressed gratitude. The event was attended by councilors Rupali Gupta, Rekha Suryavanshi, Rani Devangan, Rekha Pandey, Manorama Vijay Yadav, former councilor Vishnu Yadav, and a large number of public representatives, workers, and local citizens.
