Accelerate Bhoi Wada Village Redevelopment – Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
BMC Should Provide Alternative Housing for Residents Living in Dilapidated Buildings
Mumbai : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today directed that the redevelopment of Bhoi Wada village be expedited and that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation should provide safe and alternative accommodation for residents currently living in dilapidated buildings in the area.
A meeting regarding the redevelopment of Bhoi Wada village was held today at Sahyadri Guest House under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Shinde. Present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary to the Deputy CM, Asim Gupta, Additional Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai Bipin Sharma, and office bearers of the Bhoi Wada Redevelopment Cooperative Society.
The redevelopment of Bhoi Wada village has been stalled for several years. Therefore, a fresh opportunity should be given to the developer to expedite the process. Since some residents are still living in unsafe, dilapidated buildings, immediate arrangements should be made to relocate them to safer places. As a special case, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde instructed the Mumbai Municipal Corporation to ensure alternative housing for these residents without delay.
