India’s First Digital Education Portal Launched in Maharashtra – Minister Chandrakant Patil‘Mahajnanadeep’ Online Platform Inaugurated to Bring Quality Education to All

Mumbai : Maharashtra has taken a pioneering step in the field of digital education with the launch of the country’s first digital education portal, Mahajnanadeep, announced Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. The portal aims to make educational resources more accessible and people-centric.

The portal was officially launched in Mumbai by Minister Patil in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Venu Gopal Reddy, Director of Higher Education Dr. Shailesh Dewalankar, Vice-Chancellor of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, Prof. Sameer Sahasrabuddhe from IIT Gandhinagar, along with vice-chancellors, registrars, professors, and directors from various universities across the state. Senior officials also attended the launch virtually.

Minister Patil shared that under the Mahajnanadeep initiative, the goal is to train 1,000 expert professors to offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). So far, 150 professors have been trained, and they have developed a course titled Indian Knowledge System – Generic in Marathi, in line with the National Education Policy 2020. This course is now available globally through the portal, providing rural students with access to high-quality online education with just a click.

The initiative includes collaboration with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Mumbai University, Shivaji University Kolhapur, and SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.
