Chief Minister Meets Defence Minister in New Delhi
Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi yesterday, where they discussed several important matters.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the progress made toward the establishment of a Mizo Territorial Army Battalion, which is expected to be operational from June 2025. He emphasized that the battalion would be a significant source of employment for Mizo youth and a vital contribution to national security.
The discussion also touched upon the issue of Strategic Highways. The Chief Minister urged the Defence Minister to designate the National and State Highways passing through Mizoram as Strategic Highways to ensure better maintenance and connectivity in the region.
The Defence Minister also mentioned that private schools in Mizoram can collaborate with Sainik Schools under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He stated that private schools may apply online and, upon selection, could operate in line with the Sainik School framework.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, Pu Vanlaldina Fanai (Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister), and Pi R. Lalrodingi (OSD to the Chief Minister).
