CM Fadnavis Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for 21 Development Projects Worth ₹2,588.55 Crore in Akola District
Akola : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 21 major development projects worth ₹2,588.55 crore in Akola district today. These projects span across sectors such as irrigation, roads, healthcare, cultural infrastructure, and administrative buildings, marking a significant step forward in the district’s growth.
The ceremony was held at the Planning Bhavan within the District Collectorate premises in Akola. Present on the occasion were Public Works Minister Shri Shivendra Singhraje Bhosale, Guardian Minister and Labour Minister Adv. Akash Fundkar, MP Anup Dhotre, MLAs Ravindra Chavan, Harish Pimpale, Prakash Bharsakale, Vasant Khandelwal, Kiran Sarnayak, Shyam Khode, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Shweta Singhal, IG Ramrao Pokale, District Collector Ajit Kumbhar, and SP Arjit Chandak, among others.
CM Fadnavis first inaugurated the new state-of-the-art District Collector’s office building. He inspected various new facilities including the reception area, women’s counseling rooms (Hirakni and Anandi), and document kiosks. He then launched several development projects simultaneously via online mode.
Key inaugurations included modern buildings for Tehsil and Sub-Divisional offices and the Women & Child Development Department. He also laid the foundation stone for the Katipati Barrage on the Purna River, a ₹454.62 crore irrigation project aimed at boosting farmers’ livelihoods.
In another significant move, the CM laid the foundation stone of a ₹249.41 crore Veterinary and Animal Sciences College under the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, further strengthening Akola’s legacy in agricultural research.
Under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, Akola city will receive ₹629.06 crore for phase-1 sewage treatment infrastructure and ₹18.99 crore for an e-bus depot and charging station under the PM e-Bus Seva Yojana. He also inaugurated a ₹15 crore modern cultural centre and performed the foundation ceremony for an Olympic-standard swimming pool worth ₹9.96 crore.
Infrastructure development continued with the laying of foundations for road upgrades under the Hybrid Annuity Model, including the ₹410.10 crore improvement of key state and district highways like Murtizapur-Dahigaon-Gudhi-Umari-Akola and Akola-Malkapur-Kanshivani-Morgaon Kakad-Borgaon Khurd. Similarly, ₹311.44 crore will be used to upgrade roads in Akot, Raver, Paturda, Pimpalgaon, Khandvi, Jalgaon Jamod, Hivarkhed, and others. A main road project in Barshitakli city worth ₹9.99 crore also began.
In the health sector, the CM launched the construction of a new hospital ward at Akola Government Hospital with an outlay of ₹151.56 crore, aiming to significantly enhance patient care.
In terms of housing and safety, ₹129.23 crore will be spent on building 246 residential quarters for police personnel at Dakshata Nagar. Additionally, the foundation for a ₹5 crore sports complex in Akola taluka was laid.
CM Fadnavis also inaugurated two solar power projects—10 MW in Bhandimahal (Barshitakli) costing ₹45 crore and 2 MW in Redva village costing ₹9 crore. He further launched 33/11 KV power sub-stations in Hivra Korde and Pard villages in Murtizapur taluka.
A CCTV surveillance project worth ₹9 crore was inaugurated in Akola and Akot towns, enhancing public safety and urban monitoring.
Guardian Minister Akash Fundkar and District Collector Ajit Kumbhar welcomed the Chief Minister with a model of the Melghat region. Numerous officials and staff from various departments attended the function.
CM Fadnavis was warmly received upon his arrival at the Akola airport by several dignitaries including MPs, MLAs, former ministers, and local administrative heads.
