Gautam Adani Mourns Air India Crash, Vows Support for Affected Families
Ahmedabad : Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI 171, which went down shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon. The flight, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was bound for London Gatwick and crashed at 1:39 pm, minutes after departing at 1:38 pm, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
In a post on the social media platform X, Adani wrote, “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragedy of Air India Flight 171. Our condolences are with the families who have suffered unimaginable loss.” He further assured that the Adani Group, which operates the Ahmedabad airport, is working closely with authorities and offering all possible assistance.
“We are working closely with all the authorities and extending full support to the families on the ground,” Adani added.
The ill-fated flight had 242 people on board, including 230 passengers, two pilots, and 10 cabin crew members. It crashed into a residential area near the airport, triggering a massive emergency response and widespread grief.
This marks one of the worst air disasters in India in recent years, prompting national mourning and immediate action by civil aviation authorities. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash, as officials and rescue teams continue relief efforts at the site.
