Iranian Missile Strike on Israeli Hospital Sparks Global Outrage

Tel Aviv — As hostilities between Israel and Iran entered their seventh consecutive day, a major escalation occurred Thursday when an Iranian ballistic missile struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, injuring multiple patients, doctors, and medical staff.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident in a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Soroka Hospital in Beersheba — where Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Arab Bedouins receive treatment — was just hit by an indiscriminate Iranian ballistic missile. Israel will continue to protect all its people, from all communities.”

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Iran launched approximately 30 ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory on Thursday. One of them landed directly on Soroka Hospital, one of the largest medical facilities in southern Israel and a critical healthcare provider for both Israeli citizens and Palestinian patients.

President Isaac Herzog expressed deep concern over the attack and shared an emotional message online, painting a harrowing picture of the aftermath inside the hospital.

“A baby in intensive care. A mother at their side. A doctor rushing to save lives. An elderly resident in a nursing home,” Herzog wrote. “These were among the innocent civilians caught in Iran’s missile barrage. Soroka Hospital, located in the heart of the Negev, serves people of all faiths and backgrounds. Its staff — Jews and Arabs — work together with one goal: to heal.”

Herzog extended solidarity to the hospital’s medical teams and the residents of Beersheba and other cities hit in Thursday’s attacks, emphasizing that moments like these highlight the values Israel is fighting to defend.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, responding to the hospital strike, denounced Iran’s leadership and vowed retribution. “This morning, Iran’s terrorist tyrants launched missiles at Soroka Hospital and at civilian populations in the center of the country. We will make the regime in Tehran pay a heavy price,” he declared.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar echoed this sentiment, stating that Iran’s attack was not only a violation of international norms but a deliberate war crime. “Firing a ballistic missile at a hospital is not collateral damage — it’s intentional. Iran’s regime is committing war crimes. It has no moral boundaries,” he wrote.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel also condemned the incident in a sharp statement on social media: “Iran just hit Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. Not a military base. A hospital. The main medical center for Israel’s Negev region. Deliberate. Criminal. Civilian target. The world must speak out.”

The attack comes in the wake of Israel’s launch of ‘Operation Rising Lion’ last Friday — a focused military campaign aimed at neutralizing what it describes as the growing existential threat from Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

As the situation intensifies, global leaders are under mounting pressure to intervene diplomatically and prevent a wider regional war. Meanwhile, Israel’s leadership has reiterated that it will continue to defend its people with all available means.
