International Yoga Day 2025 Observed in Hnahthial

Hnahthial – Today marks the observance of International Yoga Day 2025, and in line with global celebrations, the event was also observed in Hnahthial. The Village Council of Hnahthial South-I organized the celebration at the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) worksite. This year’s theme for International Yoga Day was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of International Yoga Day at the United Nations (UN) in 2014. The proposal was widely supported, and 177 countries co-sponsored the resolution, which was subsequently passed by the UN General Assembly. Since then, June 21 has been globally observed as International Yoga Day each year.

Starting from 2015, International Yoga Day has been celebrated across the world, with major events held in cities like New York, Paris, Beijing, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, and New Delhi.
