Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the “Surety of Success” (செற்றி நிச்சயம்) scheme and distributed job placement orders to students trained under the “Naan Mudhalvan” initiative at the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of the program held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on July 1.
Naan Mudhalvan: A Transformative Youth Skill Initiative
Launched on March 1, 2022, “Naan Mudhalvan” (I am the first) is the flagship initiative of the Tamil Nadu government to make the state a leader in all sectors by equipping college and school students with industry-relevant skills. The program has provided high-quality skill training to over 13 lakh students, and issued over 41 lakh skill certifications through partnerships with global corporations like Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, Infosys, Amazon Web Services, and HCL.
Initially rolled out in government arts and science colleges, the scheme has now expanded to include engineering, polytechnic, and industrial training institutes (ITIs) across the state. Training is offered in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Big Data, IoT, Industry 4.0, and more, facilitated by domain experts. Students can register and access courses easily via the dedicated portal www.naanmudhalvan.tn.gov.in.
To ensure employment opportunities, job fairs are conducted for final-year students, and over 3.28 lakh students have secured placements in top companies like Infosys, HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, LTI Mindtree, Valeo, and Stellantis. Additionally, under the Naan Mudhalvan Scout initiative, students are being sent abroad for specialized training and internships in collaboration with universities and companies in the UK, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, and Scotland.
Launch of “Surety of Success” Scheme
The newly launched “Surety of Success” program aims to train unemployed youth aged 18–35, including dropouts and graduates, with short-term, industry-certified courses free of cost. Special focus will be given to socially and economically marginalized groups such as women, minorities, transgender persons, differently-abled individuals, Sri Lankan Tamils, and tribal communities.
Trainees will receive stipends up to ₹12,000, and those from remote areas will be provided free accommodation and meals by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. Courses will be offered in 38 industrial sectors across 165 skill training categories in partnership with over 500 training centers, including organizations like ZF Rane, Saint Gobain, Brakes India, TATA Electronics, Amazon, Ashok Leyland, and MRF.
To streamline the learning journey, a dedicated mobile app called “Skill Wallet” has been launched, allowing youth to select preferred courses, track progress, and match their skills with available job openings in real-time.
Exhibition and Felicitation Ceremony
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the “Naan Mudhalvan Thiruvizha”, an exhibition showcasing student innovations, tech prototypes, and new skill developments. During the event, top-performing corporate partners and CSR stakeholders were honored for their contributions.
