Be Vigilant Not Only About Rights but Also About Duties: Secretary, Animal Husbandry

Dr. Samit Sharma urges preparedness for rollout of CM Mangla Animal Insurance Scheme from September 1

Jaipur : Dr. Samit Sharma, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, has instructed department officials to ensure full preparedness for the rollout of new registrations under the Mukhyamantri Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana, starting September 1. Addressing a review meeting at the Livestock Bhavan auditorium on Tuesday, he emphasized that the same dedication and readiness shown while implementing previous budget announcements must be demonstrated to achieve the 2025–26 goals on time.

Dr. Sharma asked officers to prioritize the progress of the Mangla Animal Insurance Scheme and directed them to focus on the successful execution of all departmental schemes. He instructed that the 2024–25 target under the scheme must be completed by August 31 and that registrations for the next phase should begin from September 1. Districts showing slower progress were urged to step up efforts.

During the meeting, officials presented detailed updates on various initiatives, including the Mukhyamantri Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana, sex-sorted semen program, MVU call center and chatbot services, Camel Conservation Scheme, Animal Disease Control Program, Free Arogya Scheme, land availability for new veterinary centers, and KPI-based progress tracking.

Commending officials for effectively responding to legislative questions and assurances, Dr. Sharma noted that the Directorate’s team is committed to maintaining high standards. However, he acknowledged that securing land for new veterinary sub-centers remains a major challenge and called for committed, district-wise efforts with prioritized planning.

He also emphasized accelerating the establishment of the sex-sorted semen laboratory. Expressing concern over the inadequate maintenance and usage of equipment and medicines in districts, Dr. Sharma stressed the need for strict monitoring and guidance from the Directorate. He directed that a dedicated officer be appointed for this purpose and instructed district in-charges to conduct monthly inspections in their respective areas.

Dr. Sharma urged all officials to uphold discipline, adhere to timelines, and remain equally committed to their duties as to their rights. He said that such dedication would help the department achieve new heights.

The meeting was attended by Director Dr. Anand Sejra, Additional Directors Dr. Suresh Meena, Dr. Praveen Sen, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Financial Advisor Mr. Manoj Shandilya, other senior officials from the Directorate, and the nodal officers appointed for various districts.
