Chief Minister Announces Major Gift for Village Pandrapath, Tehsil Sanna
₹20.53 Crore Approved for Archery Academy – Special Tribal Children to Benefit
Raipur – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has granted administrative approval of ₹20.53 crore for the establishment of an Archery Academy in Village Pandrapath, Bagicha development block, Tehsil Sanna. The funding is being provided through NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
This new facility is expected to significantly benefit children from remote tribal areas, especially those from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) of Pahadi Korwa, along with other tribal communities. The academy aims to nurture sporting talent and encourage young athletes by providing dedicated training in archery.
Spanning approximately 10.27 acres, the Archery Academy will be developed as a multi-purpose sports complex. It will include a professional training ground, a small library, medical facilities, a children’s skill development center, a nursery, and even space for herbal tea cultivation.
The academy’s primary focus is to train young archers from underserved backgrounds, enabling them to compete not just at the state level, but also on national and international platforms.
The land for the academy — around 41,565 square meters — has already been identified as government-owned in Pandrapath village, Tehsil Sanna, Sub-Division Bagicha, District Jashpur (Chhattisgarh). In line with the Chief Minister’s ongoing commitment to promote sports, NTPC has agreed to finance the project based on his request.
To ensure timely execution, the Chief Minister has also recommended appointing a suitable state agency to carry out the project in a time-bound manner.
Archery, an ancient art and sport, involves hitting targets using a bow and arrow. Precision, balance, and body control are key to mastering the technique. The sport has deep roots in Indian history, and modern Indian archers like Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das have brought global recognition to the country through their outstanding performances.
The Archery Academy in Pandrapath is envisioned to become a hub for nurturing such future champions from some of the most remote and underrepresented communities in the country.
