Teej Mata Procession Held at Bikaner House During Week-Long Teej Festival – Women Worship with Traditional Songs in Rajasthani Attire

The grand Teej Mata procession was taken out with great enthusiasm on Sunday during the ongoing week-long Teej festival at Bikaner House in New Delhi, which will continue till July 30. Teej Mata was adorned and placed in a decorated palanquin, which was traditionally carried around the premises by four bearers, accompanied by rituals and prayers.

On this occasion, Additional Resident Commissioner Mrs. Anju Omprakash informed that around 51 women participated in the ceremonial procession, enhancing its grandeur with a Mangal Kalash Yatra. The procession was led by Rajasthani folk artists who performed traditional instruments like mashak, and Kachhi Ghodi dance. Following this, hundreds of men and women joined the procession in colorful traditional outfits, singing devotional songs and worshipping Teej Mata.

Mrs. Omprakash added that due to the Sunday holiday, visitors from across Delhi attended the event, enjoying authentic Rajasthani cuisine and purchasing handicrafts created by Rajasthani artisans.

Joint Resident Commissioner Mrs. Reenku Meena mentioned that after the procession, a vibrant cultural evening full of Rajasthani art and tradition entertained the audience. The event was organized by the Tourist Reception Center. Assistant Director of Tourism, Mr. Chhatrapal Yadav, shared that folk artists from various regions of Rajasthan — including Bikaner, Tonk, Churu, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Baran, Deeg, and Alwar — performed mashak vadan, Kachhi Ghodi, Bhopa singing and playing, Khartal vadan, Chari dance, Chakri dance, Chang Dhap dance, Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, the famous Peacock Dance, and Phoolon ki Holi (festival of flowers).

He further stated that as part of the broader celebration of Rajasthan’s renowned Teej Festival, the Rajasthan Tourism Department also hosted a musical cultural evening at Dilli Haat, INA, on Sunday.

Rajasthani Cultural Evening Also Held at Dilli Haat

As part of the state’s Teej celebrations in Delhi, the Rajasthan Tourism Department organized a melodious cultural evening at Dilli Haat, INA, on Sunday.

The event featured performances including Kachhi Ghodi, Chari Dance, Bhapang vadan, Ghoomar, Peacock Dance, Phoolon ki Holi, and notable Indian classical dance performances of Kathak.

Renowned Kathak dancers Ms. Sukriti Agarwal and Bheetika Raheja enthralled the audience with their captivating performances, receiving thunderous applause and appreciation from all attendees.

As with every year, Bikaner House is hosting the week-long Teej festival until July 30, featuring not only Rajasthani cuisine and handicrafts but also a variety of traditional games and cultural events.
