20th Installment of PM-KISAN Scheme to Be Disbursed on August 2

New Delhi : The 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will be disbursed on August 2, 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. A high-level meeting, chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was held to review the preparations for the event, which will take place in Varanasi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The meeting involved detailed discussions on reaching the maximum number of farmers with the scheme’s benefits. Senior officials, including directors and vice-chancellors of 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and various agricultural universities participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

During the meeting, Minister Chouhan instructed national, state, district, and village-level officials to ensure farmer participation and turn the disbursement event into a nationwide campaign. He emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three installments, one every four months, providing direct financial support to their bank accounts.

Minister Chouhan urged the KVKs to take an active role in preparations once again this year. He said that beyond direct benefit transfer, the event should serve as a public awareness campaign, celebrated in a festive and mission-driven spirit.

He encouraged large-scale participation of farmers—both men and women—in the August 2 program. The event aims to connect farmers not just with the financial assistance, but also with broader government initiatives for agricultural development.

The minister also recommended that local influencers like Krishi Sakhis, Drone Didis, Bank Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis, Bima Sakhis, and gram panchayat sarpanches help spread awareness of the program. Interaction with farmers on topics related to the Kharif season was also encouraged.

Minister Chouhan stressed the importance of inclusive participation and teamwork in ensuring the success of this large-scale initiative under the guidance of the Prime Minister.

Since its launch in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme has disbursed approximately ₹3.69 lakh crore to farmers across 19 installments. The upcoming 20th installment will benefit 9.7 crore farmers, with around ₹20,500 crore to be transferred directly into their accounts.

Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture were present at the meeting.
