Rahul Hari Jagdale was born on 24th. April, 1987. A ‘Marathi Manush’ who never got to get in touch with the worldwide acclaimed English novelist, poet, journalist, translator, and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era, George Eliot; however, inculcated the famous quote of hers, “Adventure is not outside man; it is within”.
Resonating with the philosophy of George Eliot, Rahul had aptly eulogised, “Adventure is a mindset and a personal experience that originates from within, rather than a pursuit of external, physical journeys or thrilling activities. It implies that the spirit of exploration, the thrill of discovery, and the willingness to embrace new experiences and confront fears are internal qualities, not dependent on location or external circumstances”.
By the virtue of his professional traits, been deployed with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Rahul Jagdale’s adventurous acumen gained manifestations. His job profile demanded extreme physical fitness.
While speaking to Maverick News – the Media Partner for ENERZAL Mumbai Ultra Marathon 2025, Rahul stated, “I have been actively participating in the compulsory 12 Kilometres Cross Country Race of the NDRF. Inspired by my fellow community runner, Olympian Lalita Babar, who had won a Bronze Medal at the 3000 metres event in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, clocking 9:35.37, and in the process, had surpassed the national record held by Sudha Singh, I delved into long haul runs – running a Marathon in 2015”.
Rahul had reaffirmed that it was the Pune International Full Marathon in 2015, in which Lalita Babar was honoured with being conferred as a “Brand Manager”. It was his First Full Marathon, which transformed his ‘ability to run’ into a ‘passion for running’. He came in touch with Dr. Namdeo Bhosale, Deputy Secretary of the Industry Department; an avid athlete himself, whom Rahul considers to be his first master, Dr. Bhosale had introduced Rahul Jagdale to the renowned Satish Gujaran.
“Satish Sir agreed in mentoring; which helped me in improving my running style, speed, and minimising physical injuries. On the basis of Satish Sir’s training, I could successfully accomplish the Tata Ultra; South Africa’s 90 kilometres Comrade Marathon; Khardungla 72 Kilometres (KC-72 Challenge); Border Hell Race – 100 Kilometres Marathon without any injury”, Rahul Jagdale reiterated.
He further added, “I participated in Mumbai Ultra for the first time in 2024, in which a distance of 92 kilometres was completed without any injury”.
Mumbai Ultra is an event where everyone must participate. First it is an honour; One gets to indemnify his own endurance. The striking characteristic is that, one does not need to run on a long way, medical check-ups are conducted after every lap, along with hydration supports.
Rahul adviced, “Running is such a workout which is compulsory for every sport, because of this, not only your physical health becomes good, mental health strengthens parri passu. In Mumbai Ultra, you do not need to run very fast, but run according to your body. One can comfortably run for 70 to 80 kilometres”.
While asking about the Benefits of Mumbai Ultra, Rahul stated, “One can run and set own records, while helping cancer patients too, which can fetch a benign pleasure. No matter how scorching the sunlight, experiencing the Route support atmosphere of Mumbai Ultra, brings around a terrestrial excitement”.
“Running passionately, I have secured gold medal in CRPF Cross Country Race 3 times in a row, as well as many half-marathon and 10 km Civil Race. I like Mumbai Ultra so much that even after seeing the success of another runner, I do not get Zealous, rather indulge in creating new history by drawing inspiration from them”, Rahul concluded.
